Youth Volunteers

Paw Pals is Pawmetto Lifeline’s Youth Volunteer Program that introduces young people to the benefits of volunteering for an animal rescue.
Paw Pal Youth Volunteers must be:
- between ages of 10 and 15
- dependable and responsible
- have good communication skills
- be willing to take on a variety of tasks and
- have an enthusiasm for working with people and animals!
Paw Pals will work alongside adult volunteers for two hours each month cleaning animal enclosures, socializing and working with dogs and cats. They will meet one Saturday each month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
All youth volunteers and parent or guardian MUST attend an orientation session before starting to volunteer. Our June orientation is scheduled for Saturday, June 2nd at 1pm.

Kids can also help in these valuble ways:
Supply Drives: Running an animal shelter is an expensive endeavor and we need donations of every day items to assist us! Many school children help the shelter animals rescued by Pawmetto Lifeline by holding supply drives in areas such as their classrooms, scout troops, churches and other youth groups. Publicity for Pets: It's amazing at what a colorful sign can do! A bright sign that says "adopt me" really attracts a lot of attention and can help us when we are having difficulty placing a pet. We use these signs at our adoption events to hang on the kennels and even at our Love a Pet cat adoption centers in PetSmart. We prefer that signs are laminated so they will last longer and can help even more animals.
Animal Ambassadors: Because our animals can't talk, we need to talk for them and speak up for them in our community! As an animal ambassador our youth volunteers can pass out information at various community events and not only help publicize the plight of animals in our municipal shelters but also tell the community what Pawmetto Lifeline is doing to bring about solutions to companion pet overpopulation. Volunteering as an Ambassador includes helping to distribute general information as well as publicize special events. Parental assistance and supervision is required.
