First and foremost you need to know that over 23,000 pets just like yours end up in just two shelters here in the Midlands. When you turn a pet into a municipal shelter you will sign a form that says that within 24 hours your pet will be euthanized. Over 19,000 animals meet this fate in Lexington and Richland County shelters each year.

We urge you not to consider this option and to take the necessary steps to find a loving home for your pet.

We are here to help you with this problem and though we cannot take your animal from you, we do offer sound advice that works.

First, if your pet is spayed or neutered and has all vaccinations appropriate for their age we are happy to list them on our website under courtesy listings. Many, many pets have found forever homes this way and it truly can work. In addition we are happy to send a flyer that you provide out to our distribution lists which reach far and wide.

There are many steps that you can take to find your pet a great home. Please download our brochure "The ABC's of Finding a Pet a Home" and take the time needed to do the right thing. Your pet has offered nothing but unconditional love to you and your family; please spare them from the fate that awaits in a municipal animal shelter.
